Police are releasing new information on the murder of a well-known law professor at Florida State University hoping it will lead to his killer. NBCs Kerry Sanders reports.

Tallahassee lawyer and lobbyist Reggie Garcia spoke July 29th about the upcoming vote for Medical Marijuana - Amendment 2  on Freedom 93.3 FM radio in Tallahassee. This is his third appearance on the popular Will Dance Show.

Markel was pulling into his garage and talking on his cell phone when he was shot, according to ABC News.  Emergency responders rushed Markel to a nearby hospital. The father of two was pronounced dead about 14 hours later, according to friend and neighbor Reggie Garcia.

Reggie Garcia, a friend of Markels, wondered whether Markels blog and other law endeavors could have motivated the attack.  Is it possible his scholarship and literature created some enemies? Its as possible as any of the other scenarios, Garcia said. 

Florida lawmakers moved a step closer to allowing private insurers to write flood insurance in Florida. The move comes as efforts to roll back huge rate increases has stalled in Congress.
